General Motors continues suspension of operations in Russia
MOSCOW, Apr 20 (PRIME) -- U.S. car giant General Motors (GM) has prolonged suspension of its operations and imports of its cars to Russia on the back of the crisis in Ukraine and the U.S. and international sanctions, the company said in a statement late on Tuesday.
Kommersant business daily reported that GM had decided to leave Russia for good. Russian car dealers received notifications that the company had suspended supplies of cars. GM will also fire employees of its Russian office, the sources told the business daily.
The company will become the first foreign car producer to leave Russia entirely since the start of Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine, Kommersant reported.
